controlled before-after study

— A type of non-randomized study in which outcomes are measured before and after a treatment, both in a group that receives the treatment and in another comparison group

Synonyms:

controlled before and after study, CBA study,

Full explanation:

In controlled before-after studies outcomes are measured before and after a treatment in a group that receives the treatment, and in another group that does not receive the treatment, or that receives a different treatment. Controlled before-after studies typically have a high risk of bias because of other differences between the groups that are being compared (confounders).
